The measurements were performed on the 11th November 2015 at 10:10 a.m during cloudy weather conditions. The EMF measurements were performed for the Apartment and substation “Kkonas Court” located at 3, Dimou Yrodotou str., Nicosia. The following figures provide pictures of the area where EMF measuremets were recorded.
Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organisations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

Table 1: ICNIRP exposure limits for Occupational and General public exposure
The substation is rated at a nominal power of 500 KVA. At the time when the measurements were performed the substation load was recorded as:
Red Phase |
Yellow Phase |
Blue Phase |
210A |
140A |
130A |
Table 2: Measured load current
From the resultant load of all three phases as shown above we note that the load is only 22.08 % of the nominal load (500 KVA Transformer). It must therefore be noted that during the summer or in periods of peak load this will directly affect and produce an increase to the electric and magnetic fields.
The highest magnetic field measurement is located at the substation front side with value 1.850 μT. More specifically, this measurementis was recored 0 meters away from the substation front side, at 0.3 meters from the ground and 4 meters away from the starting point.
A detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fields in the area under investigation, is shown in the following table.
