Substation - Substation 3673, Orianna Court

 

On the 9th of November 2006 at 9:30 am magnetic field measurements were performed for Substation 3673 Orianna Court. The substation of interest is located on the ground floor of the Orianna Court Building, Eleftheroupoleos Street in Nicosia.

The substation is rated at a nominal power of 630 KVA. Measurements were performed when the building containing the substation was powered and off. At the time when the measurements were performed and when the building was fully operational, the substation load was recorded as:

The Resultant load of all three phases as shown is only 17% of the nominal load (630KVA Transformer).

Accordingly the load was also recorded when Orianna Courtn was powered off and is represented in the following table:

By calculating the Resultant load of all three phases as shown above we note that the load is only 19% of the nominal load (630KVA Transformer). It must therefore be noted that during the summer or in periods of peak load the electric and magnetic fields are expected to be higher.

Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organizations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

The obtained results for the RMS fields inside and outside the substation are shown in tables 4 and 5 respectively in the case when Orianna Court is on. A comparison is also made with the ICNIRP recommendations.

Apartment No.1, above Substation 3673

Apartment No 1 of Orianna Court is situated on the first floor of the building, directly above the substation. Field measurements for this apartment were performed on the 9th of November 2006 at 11:00am.

 

Magnetic field measurements were performed in the apartment for both the case when power supplied to the building was on and off.

The obtained results for the RMS magnetic fields inside the apartment above the substation, when Orianna Court was on, are shown in table 8 and a comparison is made with the ICNIRP recommendations.
