The measurements were performed on the 6th February 2012 at 5:00 p.m during clear weather conditions. The EMF measurements were performed for the residence Gianni Ritsou Street, St. Athanasios and substation Diamantis No.699" in Limassol.
Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organisations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

Table 1: ICNIRP exposure limits for Occupational and General public exposure
The substation is rated at a nominal power of 315 KVA. At the time when the measurements were performed the substation load was recorded as:
Red Phase |
Yellow Phase |
Blue Phase |
116 A |
142 A |
119 A |
Table 2: Measured Load Current when building was fully operating
From the resultant load of all three phases as shown above we note that the load is only 27.53 % of the nominal load (315 KVA transformer). It must therefore be noted that during the summer or in periods of peak load this will directly affect and produce an increase to the electric and magnetic fields.
The highest magnetic field measurement was observed outside the bedroom No.1, at the height of 1m. The measured value at this point was 1.360µT and the percentage of 1.360% as compared to the ICNIRP General Public Standard.
A detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fields in the area of investigation is shown in the following table.

Table 3: Magnetic field measurements inside area
The highest electric field measurement was observed at the front side of the substation, at the height of 1m. The measured value at this point was 1.612V/m and a percentage of 0.0323% as compared to the ICNIRP General Public Standard.
A detailed description of the maximum measured electric fields is shown in the following table.
