Substation - Substation 20, 24 Nikou Pattihi Street

On the 6th of April 2009 at 09:30 am electric and magnetic field measurements were performed for residence 24 Nikou Pattihi Street in Limassol and the Distribution Substation No. 20.

Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organisations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

The substation is rated at a nominal power of 800 KVA. At the time when the measurements were performed the substation load was recorded as:

Red Phase

Yellow Phase

Blue Phase

376.1 A

388.8 A

589 A

Table 1: Measured Load Current when building was fully operating

From the resultant load of all three phases as shown above we note that the load is only 40.62 % of the nominal load (800 KVA Transformer).

The highest magnetic field inside was observed on the front side of the distribution transformer, with a value 0.05 μT and a percentage of 0.05 % as compared to the ICNIRP General Public standard.

A detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fields inside is shown in the following table.

Accordingly the highest magnetic field value inside was observed on the front side of the distribution transformer, with a value 33.28 μT (6m away from the starting point) and a percentage of 33.28 % as compared to the ICNIRP General Public standard.

A detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fields in the outside area is shown in the following table.
