Substation - 4 Konstantinou Avgeraki street, Limassol

The measurements were performed on the 21st February 2014 at 10:30 a.m. during clear weather conditions. The EMF measurements were performed for the residence 4 Konstantinou Avgeraki street and substation “No. 948” in Limassol. The following figures provide pictures of the area where EMF measuremets were recorded.

Substation 132 kV overhead power lines


Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organisations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

The substation is rated at a nominal power of 315 KVA. At the time when the measurements were performed the substation load was recorded as:

From the resultant load of all three phases as shown above we note that the load is only 28.44 % of the nominal load (315 KVA transformer). It must therefore be noted that during the summer or in periods of peak load this will directly affect and produce an increase to the electric and magnetic fields.

The highest magnetic field measurement was observed at the front side of the substation at height 0.3 m (3m away from the starting point). The measured value at this point was 0.567 μT and a percentage of 0.567 % as compared to the ICNIRP General Public standard. Accordingly a detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fields in the area under investigation is shown in the table below.

The highest electric field measurement was observed below the 132 kV Overhead Power lines at height 1 m (26m away from the starting point). The measured value at this point was 250.93 V/m and a percentage of 5.019 % as compared to the ICNIRP General Public standard.
