High Voltage Overhead Power Lines

The measurements were performed on the25 th May 2012 at 17:20 p.m during clear weather conditions. The EMF measurements were performed for the residence at Agiou Ilarionos Street, Aradippou which is located in direct proximity to the overhead power line.

The overhead power line is rated at a nominal power of 280 MVA. At the time when the measurements were performed, the load of the overhead power line was 130 MVA. The Resultant Load of all three phases was 46 % utilisation of the nominal load power.

Limiting exposure values have been provided by the ICNIRP recommendations and are guidelines to many countries and organizations. The exposure limits at 50 Hz are tabulated in the following table according to the limits given by ICNIRP.

The highest magnetic fi eld measurement was observed across the overhead power lines,with a value 0.232T (16m away from the starting point, at 1m height) and a percent-age of 0.232% as compared to the ICNIRP General Publicstandard.Accordingly a detailed description of the maximum measured magnetic fi elds in the area under investigation is shown in the table below.

The highest electric fi eld measurement was observed across the overhead power lines,with a value 3.70 V/m (26m away from the starting point, at 1m height) and a per-centage of 0.074% as compared to the ICNIRP General Public standard.
